Zeke Austin Breaks Down Recruitment

It has been a big few months in the recruitment of Zeke Austin, a 6’3” senior point guard of Albany High School and the MN Comets Elite. While he entered the spring without a single scholarship offer, he has added a trio of them over the past few months.

“I advanced my game in all aspects with the great competition we played,” Austin said about his season playing with the MN Comets Elite.  Playing good competition helped me advance my leadership and mental side of the game as well because of having to stay strong under pressure. My shooting was a little spotty at the start, but I got that taken care of and shot much better as the summer went on.” Austin was a big key to the success for the Comets 2025 team who also had Sam Hondl, Spencer Swenson, Keller Hanson, among others. They went 3-1 in one of the top pools during the May live period at the NY2LA Next Level Invitational. Then during the July live periods, they captured the platinum consolation championship at the NY2LA Summer Jam. He then especially shined at the Final Chapter tournament where he scored 16 points in the second half of a game leading the Comets to a five point win.

Back in May, University of Jamestown became the first school to offer him. “Jamestown has really nice basketball facilities and their coaches I also like. Their college is small and class sizes are small so that is nice in the nursing part,” Austin said.

Then in July both Minnesota State Moorhead and then Winona State offered him as well. “They have had a really solid program for a while and good coaches from talking to them,” Austin said about Moorhead. When talking about Winona State, he said “I really like that they have a good program for the field that I want to study in. I liked the coaching staff and the basketball program. And that the school sits in a nice town and it is close to my cousins.”

As well to the offers, Austin also has interest from several division two and NAIA programs.
