Zavier Zens Chooses Northern Iowa

Another member of Wisconsin’s 2026 class has announced their commitment. Following Caden Gustafson to Northern Michigan and Calvin Anderson to Minnesota Duluth in just the past few days, now Zavier Zens has announced his future college plans. The 6’7” wing forward averaged 22.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game as a junior for Wisconsin Lutheran to help them win their second straight state title. This past grassroots season he played for Wisconsin Playground Club.

Zens announced his future plans to play for Northern Iowa. He chose them over his other offers coming from Bradley, Buffalo, Colorado State, Drake, Illinois State, Wyoming, among others.

“Perfect fit through and through. The coaches and players do the right things, have fun, and win games. The offense and defense game plans also fit me very well,” Zens said about his selection of Northern Iowa.

Northern Iowa started recruiting him back in the middle of May and offered him shortly after that. He then took a visit there in June which Zens called “great.” He then took another visit there this past week which he said “sealed the deal for me.”

For his future on how he fits in with the Missouri Valley program, Zens said “They want to play me as a wing and I feel like I can affect the game on all sides of the game with passing, shooting, driving the ball, and staying good on ball.”
