On Friday, senior Trent Grunewald announced his college commitment. The 6’4” shooting guard of Howards Grove High School and Lakeshore Force will be staying in-state with his commitment to UW-Whitewater.
“I like the business school and facilities a lot,” Grunewald said about choosing UW-Whitewater, the four-time division three national champions. Before his commitment, he was also being recruited by several other division three programs in the region.
In his senior season, he led 21-4 Howards Grove in scoring, rebounding, and assists. Grunewald averaged 20.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists on the season. Recently in his senior season, he became the all-time leading scorer for Howards Grove.
His commitment comes after he recently took a visit to UW-Whitewater back on March 12th. “I liked it a lot,” he said about his most recent visit. “The guys on the team were nice to be around and play with in the open gym.”
“Coach said they needed more guards with size, and I think I can help with that,” Grunewald said about his future playing for UW-Whitewater. “I also see my game fitting in well in their offense that they run by knocking down shots or creating for teammates.”
