There are many talented seniors in Wisconsin with great upside flying under the radar with one of the biggest being Trent Grunewald. The 6’4” two guard had a breakout junior season with Howards Grove and parlayed that into a tremendous season with Lakeshore Force during the spring and summer.
In his sophomore season at Howards Grove, Grunewald averaged 11.2 points per game but was able to build that up to 19.1 in his junior season leading them to a 19-6 season. He was also able to average 9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1 block per game to earn himself Player of the Year honors in the Big East North Conference as well as all-state honors by the WBCA. Then with Lakeshore Force, he had a tremendous grassroots season. “My season was fun with Lakeshore Force. I have been playing with most of the same guys on the team since middle school. So, watching us grow over the years have been fun,” Grunewald stated.
With this, Grunewald has received considerable recruitment attention from division three programs. To date, he has taken visits to Carroll, Concordia Wisconsin, and UW-Oshkosh in addition to a visit to UW-Stevens Point coming soon. Some of the other schools recruiting him include Edgewood, St. Norbert, and Wisconsin Lutheran.
With the skills and physical tools of Grunewald, he looks to be a priority recruit at the division three level at a minimum and shown the ability to be a scholarship level player. As well to having good size in the backcourt at 6’4” with plenty of length, the senior is also a very skilled guard. He is a very good outside and has good feel. In his senior season, he is looking to help Howards Grove win their conference, make a run to state, and again be named all-state.
