One of Wisconsin’s top players in the class of 2026, wing Tre Fenderson (Racine, Wis.) came off the board last month, opting to commit to Wisconsin following an unofficial visit.
“I feel like Wisconsin was the best fit for me,” Fenderson told NY2LA Sports. “We talked about them changing the offense to my play style. They were just consistent with keeping in touch with me since the summertime.”
A former standout at The Prairie School, Fenderson will take his talents to DME/St. John’s Academy for the 2024-25 season and then officially reclassify to 2026. As a junior, Fenderson averaged 22 points, 11 rebounds, and two assists per game last season.
Assistant coach Sharif Chambliss was the lead recruiter for Fenderson.
“I really like coach Chambliss. We’re close,” said Fenderson. “I really like all the coaches.”
“They were very happy,” he added. “They were excited. They were telling me they really wanted me and that I’d be a big factor for them.”
Fenderson also held scholarship offers from Iowa State and Milwaukee. The cousin of Badger senior guard and former St. Catherine’s star Kamari McGee, Fenderson was also receiving interest from Marquette, DePaul, and others.
“I feel good about getting it out of the way,” he said. “I can just focus on developing and getting ready for college. Getting stronger and making sure I’m ready when I get there.”
Fenderson is the first commitment for the Badgers in the class of 2026. He plays with Wisconsin Playground Club during the travel season.
