The class of 2028 is quite some time away and many are reserved to look that far out in terms of high-level prospects. Every now and then you have a few prospects who pass the eye test, and 2028 power forward Terrell Jackson may very well be one of the best national prospects that many outside of Texas have never heard of. The Dallas Carter High School standout is one of best long-term prospects in the south region and his national presence is trending upward. His upside and work ethic make him a can’t miss recruit and it is only a matter of time before he is a household name.
Standing at 6’9, his size at times gives the impression that he a man playing amongst boys. Athletically he is almost impossible to guard one on one in the half court, almost always commanding a double team. He can score from various points on the floor but is most deadly going to basket and around the paint area. He has a natural feel for the game around the basket and has a soft touch. He anticipates the ball coming off the rim very well and puts himself in position to rebound offensively for put backs. He has spent a considerable amount of time in the gym improving his outside and it has shown recently. While most of damage is done around rim, he is getting more comfortable stepping out and shooting the mid-range shot. He also possesses the ability to find open teammates when double teamed as well as see up the floor and deliver outlet passes to start transition plays.
Defensively he can guard almost all positions on the floor at the high school level. He is quick enough to stay with smaller guards on the perimeter as well as guard players in the post. His quick leaping abilities allow to block shots as well as alter shots of opposing players who challenge him at the rim. He has a good feel for where is on the court and boxes out extremely well. He is not turnover prone and does commit unnecessary fouls. He is force on the floor and his energy that he brings each possession translates over to his teammates.
This past travel season he made tremendous strides in his game playing up against older competition and got the attention of some major college programs along the way. We look for him to a top priority for some of the top programs in the south region and beyond this upcoming school season as well into next spring.
