Amongst all the talent in Wisconsin’s 2027 class, Sam Fait has been one of the breakout stars in the state. Not only has the 6’4” guard been one of the top players in his class but the entire state regardless of class.
While Fait had a tremendous freshman season for Catholic Central averaging 14.8 points, he has taken it to another level this season. With his regular season now complete, Fait has nearly doubled his points per game. The sophomore averaged 29 points per game on the season. This is in addition to 6.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 2.2 steals to lead his team in all four stat categories. Included in this remarkable season included a staggering 47-point game recently. Even while in his sophomore season, he just reached the lofty one-thousand-point milestone last week.
“I think the biggest thing that pushed me this season was confidence,” Fait said about his breakout season. “It went a long way for me and how I have played this year versus last year. Along with that I think I have grown a lot more in the way I take in the game and see it. And reading the game, the speed in which it’s played, and the way it’s being played has helped me a lot.
Even with the great growth of his game and impressive sophomore season, Fait is still looking to build upon it. “I know there is a lot to improve in my game, but I think it is all around pretty good. I do a nice job getting to the bucket in a move or two, I can shoot the three pretty consistently, and I believe I have done an effective job incorporating a lot more mid-range shots into my game as well. Passing and shot creating for my teammates is something I have improved in my game along with how I play my defensive role as well,” Fait said describing his own game.
With the regular season behind him, Fait is looking towards a run in the postseason. “My biggest goal for the remainder of the season is making a good run in the playoffs. Last year we took a quick exit, and I am really preparing along with my team and coaches to achieve that goal.” Fait and Catholic Central will get started in the postseason on Tuesday facing off against Palmyra-Eagle.
Following his high school season, Fait will once again be suiting up for 24Up.
