The top uncommitted 2024 prospect in the entire nation, Dylan Harper, announced his college commitment on Wednesday afternoon and will be staying close to home. The 6’6” guard of Don Bosco Prep (NJ) and the NY Renaissance was down to a final five of Auburn, Duke, Indiana, Kansas, and Rutgers.
Out of the five finalists, the five-star guard announced his commitment to Rutgers. The commitment comes after Harper took his official visit to Rutgers back in the middle of October. In addition to his finalist, Harper had also received offers from Georgia Tech, Michigan, Missouri, Texas Tech, UCLA, among others. Once again head coach Steve Pikiell was able to beat out blue blood programs for a 2024 recruit and marks their fifth 2024 commitment.
The strong recruiting class of Rutgers continues to grow. With the addition of Harper, the recruiting class of Rutgers climbs even higher to be one of the best in not just the Big 10 but the entire nation. He joins fellow top five ranked senior Ace Bailey in addition to Lathan Sommerville, Dylan Grant, and Bryce Dortch. This looks to make the highest ranked recruiting class in program history for the Scarlet Knight’s.
Rutgers is landing Harper who ranks as a top three recruit nationally in the 2024 class. In addition to his great size and build in the backcourt, he has an incredibly advanced and well-rounded game and feel. With the NY Renaissance on the EYBL this past season, he averaged 18.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game while shooting just above 50% from the field.
