Recruitment Quickly Building For Evan Blankenship

After flying under the radar, Evan Blankenship is starting to generate plenty of college interest for himself. This comes following his grassroots season with Mercury Elite for the 6’5” senior wing of Batavia High School (IL).

“It was great,” Blankenship said about his season with Mercury Elite. “I loved the competitiveness and the improvements that my coaches helped me make.” When asked about his game, he called himself “a lengthy, athletic, shooter, that can guard most positions on the floor.” While already being one of the more impactful players on the NY2LA Platinum Elite this past season, he has even greater upside with some size and length on the wings along with his shooting and versatile skill set. This included being one of the top players back in July at the Final Chapter tournament.

Blankenship has gotten himself on the radar of a lengthy list of colleges, including some high academics ones. Amongst these are Augustana, Carroll, DePauw, Grinnell, Illinois Wesleyan, Knox, Lake Forest, Lakeland, and Macalester. Out of these, he has already taken a visit to Augustana back in May. “It was a great visit, and I loved the campus,” Blankenship said about the visit. Next up he has visits planned to DePauw, Lake Forest, and Lakeland.

There are a couple of different aspects Blankenship is searching for in his future college program. “Mostly a winning team and a good role on the team that I could impact the game as much as possible.”
