Recruitment of 2028 Ichima Idoko Taking Off

Over the past few months, Ichima Idoko has been one of the most popular 2028 recruits amongst division one programs in not just the Midwest but the entire nation. This follows a huge grassroots season with J Sizzles where he consistently showcased all his tools and tremendous upside for the 6’7” wing forward of DeLaSalle High School (MN).

Back in March, University of New Orleans became the first school to extend an offer to Idoko. Then over the summer he also added offers from Arizona State, Kansas City, and Kansas State. More recently this week, he added an offer from UNLV. “It feels good and exciting, but I can’t get over my head I just need to keep putting in the work and trust the process,” he said about having already received these offers as a sophomore. In addition to his offers, some of the schools who have been showing interest in him include Minnesota and West Virginia.

“It was a good experience,” Idoko said about his grassroots season with J Sizzle. “This was my first season actually being a leader on my team and making decisions to make my team better overall it went well but I feel like I could have got my teammates more involved and not just me going and scoring points.” All of his abilities were clear as one of the top players at the players at the NY2LA Final Chapter in July even while playing up a level. He is a long and athletic wing forward that proved to be a standout on both ends of the floor. Not only can he match up with anyone defensively but also showed growing offensive tools with his ability to be a playmaker with the ball.

When asked to describe his own game, Idoko said “I am a three level scorer and I can get my shot from anywhere and my defense on ball is a threat I like making my opponents uncomfortable and I try to cause chaos a lot and I am also a playmaker I will most likely make the right read also my shot got a lot better I am better catch and shoot but I create my shot off the dribble well.”
