Deuce Burkes has continued to be one of the most sought-after players in Wisconsin’s 2026 class. New in his recruitment was a recent visit to Toledo for the 6’3” point guard of Milwaukee Academy of Science.
Toledo had initially offered Burkes back at the start of October. When speaking about the recent visit, he said “Toledo was a good experience. Coach TK & Coach Pritz made me and my pops feel welcome. Facility is fire too.” What asked is there is anything he likes about the basketball program, Burkes said “My favorite thing about them is the style of play. Good spacing, fast pace and they let the guards hoop free.”
In addition to Toledo, he has also been offered by Grambling State, IUPUI, Nebraska, SIU Edwardsville, and Western Illinois. In addition, Kentucky, St. Louis, and Wyoming are some of the schools who have been showing the most interest in him. Burkes will be visiting St. Louis soon and is working on taking a visit to Kentucky.
Burkes said that Kentucky is planning on watching him during his upcoming junior season. After averaging 8.1 points as a sophomore last season, look for him to greatly grow that number. With Burkes along with Jamarion Batemon, Agape Keys, and Amare Jackson, look for Milwaukee Academy of Science to have one of the top backcourts in the entire state for this upcoming season.
