RECRUITMENT BUILDING FOR 2025 G BRADEN FREEMAN

In both 2021 and 2022, Owen Freeman was a part of a NY2LA Association Championship team with MidPro Academy. This summer with Owen moved onto the college level with the Iowa Hawkeyes, it was now his brother Braden’s turn. The younger Freeman continued this championship trend as he was a part of the MidPro Academy team that won the 16U NY2LA Association Championship.

With his success and emergence over the course of the year that also included an Illinois 4A state championship during his sophomore season at Moline, he has seen his recruitment start to build for the 6’6” guard. Back over the summer he received his first division one offer coming from Incarnate World. As well, he has been in touch with a number of programs and has taken a few visits this fall.

Recently Freeman has taken visits to Iowa, Loyola Chicago, and most recently UIC on Saturday. “Visit to Iowa went well, like all they had to offer,” the junior said on his visit to the Big 10 school. On his Loyola Chicago visit, he said “Very nice, loved the campus and city atmosphere.” For his most recent visit, “Good, I liked the energy of the guys and the area.”

Some of the other programs showing interest in him include Appalachian State, Cal Poly, Eastern Illinois, Illinois State, Miami (OH), Murray State, Penn, Southern Illinois Edwardsville, UW-Milwaukee, Valparaiso, and a few others. After his success this year with MidPro Academy, he is looking to continue that into his junior year at Moline. “I want to have a breakout year, I want to prove to everyone that I can play basketball and play it at a high level. I want to show leadership and lead my team as well.”
