With the high school season nearing its end, we are heading into another commitment season for the available senior class. On Sunday not only did one senior guard from the Illinois Predators program announce their commitment (now called Frontline program), but two of them did.
The commitments came from Sebastian Hill of Meridian High School and Connor Brown of Calvary Academy. Hill and Brown teamed up to form one of the better backcourts on the NY2LA Association this past season.
Amongst a top three schools that included Augustana College, Concordia Chicago, and Wabash College, Hill made his commitment to Wabash. “You can’t go wrong with that school, it has every piece you would want in college” he first said on why he chose Wabash over his other suitors. “But outside of the school, the location fits best for me. Also sticking outside of the school, I would have to say the relationships I’ve built with coaches, future & formal teammates, and other staff. It’s a really good fit for me.” In his senior season, the 6’3” combo guard averaged 21.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1 steal per game.
The next commitment came from Brown who ultimately decided upon staying close to home in choosing Illinois College. The commitment comes after he took his visit to his future school last year in May. “It was my first college visit and I loved it. Facilities are great and I just love the coaches. Campus is nice and it just felt like the right fit,” he said about the visit. When asked about his decision, he stated “the biggest thing for me is the environment and the family like attitude that surrounds the team. Everyone is close and I got along with all the players.” Some of the other schools that were recruiting him included Dominican, Illinois-Springfield, Loras, Millikin, Southwest Baptist, and UW-Parkside. In the season, Brown averaged 19 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists in helping Calvary win a regional championship.
