Pair Of Illinois Products Make Their Commitments

As the spring grassroots season has passed, more and more rising seniors are starting to announce their college commitments. In just the past few days, a pair of the top players from Illinois’ 2025 class announced their college commitments. One commitment was to the Big Ten with the other to the Big East, with both players staying in the Midwest region.

First was Phoenix Gill, a 6’3” guard of St. Ignatius who chose to stay in-state committing to Northwestern. Gill is currently ranked fifth in NY2LA’s 2025 player rankings for the state of Illinois. Northwestern had offered him just under a year ago last July. He had also received offers from Illinois, Iowa State, Stanford, among others. Gill is one of the more skilled, athletic, and high IQ guards in the regions 2025 class. The guard marks the first commitment in the Wildcats 2025 recruiting class. This marks the second year in a row where they were able to land one of the top players in their own state with Angelo Ciaravino in the 2024 class.

Next for commitments was Ian Miletic of Rolling Meadows High School and the Illinois Wolves. The 6’7” wing will be headed north for his collegiate career picking Marquette. He is currently ranked fourth in NY2LA’s 2025 player rankings for Illinois. His recruitment stock greatly took off over the last several months highlighted by his great shot making ability and positional size. While he only received his first offer earlier this year, he was able to pull in several offers coming from DePaul, Illinois, Loyola-Chicago, among others. Marquette had offered him in January following a visit for their win against Villanova.

With the pair’s commitments, the list of top available players in Illinois includes Aleks Alston, Bryce Heard, and Dietrich Richardson in the top five.
