In just the past few days a pair of top twenty seniors in nation have announced their college commitment. This came first from Trey McKenney and more recently from Meleek Thomas.
On Saturday, McKenney announced his commitment that he will be staying in-state with his decision to attend Michigan. The senior is a 6’4” two guard who is from Flint, Michigan and attends Orchard Lake St. Mary’s and played with The Family. He is a consensus top twenty-five ranked player nationally in the 2025 class and as high as sixteenth and a five star according to ESPN. He chose Michigan over his other finalist of Georgetown and USC. Some of the other schools to have offered him included Indiana, Kansas, Michigan State, Ohio State, Oregon, Rutgers, Texas, Villanova, Washington, among others.
Then on Monday, Meleek Thomas committed to Arkansas and head coach John Calipari. The 6’3” guard of Overtime Elite chose them over his other finalist of Pittsburgh and UConn.
Arkansas was not a part of his top twelve that he announced last year before Calipari making the move to Arkansas. As well to his two other finalist, Auburn, Duke, Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan, Tennessee, and Villanova, were all a part of his top twelve. Thomas was offered by Arkansas back in April just several days following the hiring of Calipari. This past season on the EYBL, he was top ten in scoring averaging 20.3 points along with 6.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists while playing with the New Heights Lightning. Thomas is a consensus five-star recruit. He joins Darius Acuff in the Razorbacks 2025 recruiting class.
