After seeing plenty of success last season at both the 16u and 15 level, Northcoast Premier program out of Michigan will be a part of the NY2LA Platinum Elite for the upcoming 2025 season. Their success included a platinum championship from their 2026 group last season at the Spring Extravaganza, where their 2027 team also made it to the semifinals. This is in addition to much success at the live period tournaments for both teams. From those two teams, plenty of the talent will be returning which should have college coached lined up for Northcoast Premier games.
Headlining their 17U team for this 2025 season will be 6’7” power forward Owen VanderWaal of Unity Christian High School, 6’3” guard Kyler Berghuis of Unity Christian High School, and 6’1” guard Adam Dugener of North Muskegon High School. VanderWaal was one of the top 2026 forwards last season on the NY2LA Association with his versatile skill set being able to play in the paint and on the perimeter in addition his mobility and physical tools. The duo of Dugener and Berghuis should give them one of the better backcourts at the 17U level.
The Northcoast Premier 16U team will have a well-rounded team with plenty of returners. This includes 6’6” wing Alex Armstrong of Hudsonville High School, 6’1” guard Makai Campos of West Ottawa High School, 6’3” guard Ben Geerdes of Caledonia High School, and 6’3” guard Max Zichterman of South Christian High School. Armstrong is a versatile and impactful wing who has shown great upside. Each of the trio of guards showed their ability to take over games last season with Northcoast. With these four among others, look for this group to see plenty of success at the 16U level in the upcoming season.
