From all around the Midwest, down to Texas and now to Canada, the team announcements for the inaugural Platinum Elite by NY2LA have come from all around North America. The Canadian program joining the Platinum Elite is HQ Elite.
HQ Elite joins the trend over the last decade of a lengthy group of high level players emerging out of Canada. While there are plenty of players from their 17U team who are drawing college interest, their duo of George Nasir and Mohamad Alkrenawi will be very popular names amongst college coaches.
Nasir is a lengthy 6’4” guard in the 2026 class who attends Oakville Prep. He has a great combination of talents as a high level three-point shooter in addition to his tremendous bounce. With this combination of talents, he has been drawing interest from numerous division one programs including some high major ones. Included in his list of suitors are Akron, Cleveland State, Dayton, Georgia Tech, Kent State, Pittsburgh, and Robert Morris.
Playing alongside Nasir for HQ Elite is the incredibly well-rounded 2026 Alkrenawi. As well to having great size in the backcourt at 6’6”, he is an impactful player on both ends of the floor. He is very gifted defender with his ability to defend one through four effectively. Alkrenawi is also a versatile offensive threat with his shooting ability, as well as getting into the mid-range and to the basket but he also likes to create for his teammates.
