NY2LA Summer Jam – DG’s 17U Ones To Watch

Top Performers, stock boosters, and plenty of additional talent here in the ones to watch category.

Kendall Bosby – 2026 – G – Hoops4Health

The 6’3” Bosby put in one more standout tournament to finish off his breakout grassroots season. This included a 23 point game in which he showcased his outside shooting ability while knocking down five threes getting his team a win. He has also continued to grow his point guard abilities while collecting several assists in this game but distributed it extremely well throughout the tournament playing with stronger handle and good vision reading the defense.

Marcus Johnson – 2026 – PG – Mercury Elite

Johnson was one of the top scorers at NY2LA this summer between averaging 30 points the week prior at Final Chapter and continued to score it at Summer Jam with a 25-point game on Saturday. The guard can score it in bunches with his jumper. Whether it is with his smooth compact jumper spotting up from three or also creating off the dribble from the outside or mid-range. Johnson also has some good finishes around the basket finishing strong for his size through plenty of contact. He also made a large impact on the defensive side coming up with several steals in a game playing very active in the passing lanes with his quick anticipation.

Ben Schwerin – 2026 – G/F – Chapman South

Schwerin has consistently shown his shooting ability all season with Chapman South. This included hitting three threes in a single half of action at Summer Jam. The 6’4” wing with a strong build has a smooth release on his jumper when spotting up from the outside. As well to his shooting, Schwerin also made his impact with his energetic play battling against big men on the glass and outrebounding them as well with his defensive play.

Brogan Sherd – 2026 – G – WM Premier

Sherd was a standout with his both his shooting as well as his distributing. In a tight showcase game on Sunday, Sherd hit a pair of threes, several impressive passes, and was even laying out on the floor to help WM Premier grab the tight win. He stood out with his passing collecting several assists connecting on passes through heavy traffic on back door cuts and on drive and dump offs. He showed excellent vision seeing the entire floor on the move.

Takis Tyler – 2026 – PG – Jay Academy

It was another big scoring weekend from Tyler. On day one of the tournament, he put up 10 points in the first half while finishing the game with 19 points while adding in a few assists in a one point win versus a very good Michigan Playmakers team. Not only does Tyler have great straight-line quickness, but also displays his speed maneuvering through heavy traffic around the paint. He is a good shot creator from the outside with the ability to hit threes in bunches but is just as good on the attack breaking down defenders, finishing over defenders inside, and create separation and quickly pull up in the mid-range.

Ahmir Woods – 2025 – G – Pride Roc

The lanky 6’3” guard has a big month of July first scoring 31 points in a game last at Final Chapter and having multiple standout games at Summer Jam. This included an efficient 18 point game while helping Pride Roc to a three point win versus a good I Am 3 squad. His game is highlighted by his consistent shooting ability but he also plays quick with the ball. Whether it was hitting tough pull up mid-rangers, step back threes, or hitting four threes in the game, Woods has a pure jumper. As well, he is an extremely bouncy guard which he showed with a highlight reel transition block from behind as he explodes off the court.

JJ Zavatchin – 2026 – SF – Chapman North

A consistent and impactful player, Zavatchin was playing some his best basketball at Summer Jam. This was especially true down the stretch of a tight game Sunday. He showed his usual ability to finish strong around the paint with his great strength and frame but was also showing improved moves beating defenders off the dribble plus confidence in his jumper hitting a pull up three.
