NY2LA Fall League To State Champs

On Saturday, Wisconsin’s five state champions were crowned in Madison at the Kohls Center. Of these five, three of them got their start to the season at the NY2LA Fall League. This included Milwaukee Academy of Science, Wauwatosa West, and Wisconsin Lutheran who all captured a gold ball.

Milwaukee Academy of Science won the championship at the division 3 level with a 57-54 win over Freedom. As one of the most talented teams in the entire state over the past few year, they finally were able to capture their championship. There were led by the senior duo of Jamarion Batemon (Iowa State commit) and Devin Brown (Coastal Carolina commit) all season long. Other key member of this team who finished with a 25-1 record are Agape Keys Jr, Amare Jackson, and Deuce Burkes, who has several division one offers.  

At the division 2 level, Wauwatosa West captured the championship in an 60-57 overtime instant classic over Racine Park. Junior Matthew Kloskey stepped up his game with a 29-point performance in the championship. Sophomore Jalen Brown and senior Jake Hansen, who each have received multiple division one offers, made a up a highly talented trio for Wauwatosa West all season to lead them to their championship.

After winning a state championship last season with now Duke standout Kon Knueppel, Wisconsin Lutheran made it back-to-back championships in a 28-2 season. This came in a 57-55 victory over Marshfield. It has been a breakout season for Zavier Zens who has emerged as one of the top juniors in Wisconsin and led them with 19 points in the championship game. Other key members of this team all season were sophomore Kager Knueppel, senior Isaiah Mellock, and senior Alex Greene.

Congratulations to all five of Wisconsin’s boys basketball state champions which also included Aquinas and Cochrane-Fountain City.
