Murray State and head coach Ryan Miller landed a major commitment for their 2026 class. This came from Navon Shabazz, a 6’4” guard of Iowa United Prep.
With Iowa United on the Adidas 3SSB this past grassroots season, he averaged 11.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1 steal per game while hitting 40.6% of his threes. Back in April, Shabazz helped Iowa United with the 17U level of the NY2LA Swish N’ Dish platinum championship.
Prior to committing to Murray State, Shabazz had previously been committed to Iowa. This happened back in September of 2024. Then with the new Hawkeyes coaching staff, Shabazz had opened up his recruitment.
Since opening up his commitment, Shabazz has seen a lengthy list of offers over the past several months before ultimately selecting the Racers. Amongst his offers were Bowling Green, Buffalo, East Tennessee State, Purdue Fort Wayne, UIC, among others before making his commitment.
Shabazz is currently ranked 297th nationally in 247 Sports composite rankings for the 2026 class. The combo guard marks the first commitment for Murray State with their 2026 recruiting class.
