Michigan Tech added a major addition to their 2026 recruitment class by landing one of the top available guards from Wisconsin. This came from Kayden Schultz, a 6’3” guard of Plymouth High School and Chapman North.
In his junior season at Plymouth, Schultz earned himself division two all-state honors from the WBCA. This was done while averaging 28.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. He was then one of the top players on the NY2LA Platinum Elite with Chapman North this past season while averaging 14.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals over six tournaments during the spring and summer.
The commitment comes after Schultz recently visited Michigan Tech earlier this fall. He had also visited the upper peninsula campus back in the winter. “They were both really good visits,” Schultz said. “I enjoyed hanging out with the players and watching practice as well. It was cool to see the location during the winter and summer, fall.”
Michigan Tech had offered Schultz back in January of this year. Since then, he also added offers from several other division two programs including UW-Parkside, Hillsdale, Lake Superior State, St. Cloud State, Rockhurst, and Minnesota State Moorhead. When asked why he picked Michigan Tech, he stated “they have been there since day one and were my first offer. They’ve been super loyal and honest with me through this whole process, and I have built good relationships with the players as well.”
“I see my fast style of play fitting in right away. I think the way they run their offense is very similar to what we do at the high school team. I also believe that the coaching staff they have will help me to become comfortable and confident in the offense. They have a lot of good players that will push me to be the best I can be,” Schultz said about his future suiting up for the Huskies.
