MICHAEL OAKS MAKES HIS COLLEGE COMMITMENT

Another player from Team Temple’s 2024 squad has announced his commitment to a division one program. The most recent being 6’11” center Michael Oaks of Southern California Academy.

Oaks chose Detroit Mercy over his other offers which came from Coastal Carolina and Robert Morris. Detroit Mercy had just offered the senior post earlier this month. “I like the family atmosphere they have, and I know I’m going to be developing and taken care of,” Oaks said about his college decision.

The commitment comes after Oaks took a visit to Detroit Mercy just a few days ago. “It was amazing,” he said about the visit. “Coach Marsh and Coach Davis took great care of me.”

“My game is going to fit very well with what they have. I’ll be good inside and perimeter presence that they need,” Oaks said about his future playing for the Horizon League program. This past year, the post was one of the top interior defenders during his time on the NY2LA Association. As well to his size at 6’11”, he moves well defending the interior. He is a very tough and active player down in the paint as a rim protector and rebounder. Though he has also shown a growing ability to play face up to the basket and handle the basketball. He is a high upside big man that could be a steal in this 2024 class for Detroit Mercy.
