As we head into the fall, the commitments from the 2025 are starting to ramp up. One of the newest being announced on Tuesday came from Melvin Bell. The 6’5” shooting guard of La Lumiere School (IN) and Meanstreets made his commitment to San Jose State.
The commitment comes after Bell made his official visit out west to San Jose State this past weekend. “I loved it,” Bell first said about his visit. “Everything they were talking about felt genuine and not forced.” Prior to that visit, he had also just taken an official visit to Brown.
As a nationally ranked player in the 2025 class, Bell chose San Jose over plenty of other programs. Some of the other schools to have previously offered him included Ball State, Murray State, George Mason, Stanford, among others. San Jose State had offered Bell back in July. “I like the coaches and how genuine it felt when I was speaking to them. They made me feel like I was really wanted,” he said about his decision.
“Their playing style fits me perfectly,” Bell said about his game fitting in at the Mountain West Conference program. “I like to get downhill and that’s a way they like to play.”
