LUTHER SMITH JR TALKS COMMITMENT TO USI

One of the top available seniors in Wisconsin has made their college commitments. This week Luther Smith Jr. of Sussex Hamilton High School and MTXE Premier announced his commitment to Southern Indiana of the Ohio Valley Conference.

The past year has been a highly successful one for the 6’2” guard. It started with being named second team on the 17U NY2LA Association with MTXE. Then during his senior season, he was one of the leading scorers in all of Wisconsin averaging 27.8 points a game to help his team to a 20-6 season and being name first team all-state by the WBCA.

The commitment comes after Southern Indiana offered him earlier this week. “I love the fact they’re an up-and-coming program with a lot of potential. Coach Gouard played at USI, so it’s some great history there. They have a great support system as well from coaches to fans,” are the main things Smith likes about his future program.

“I believe what they do fits my game,” he said about his future on the hardwood with Southern Indiana. “They shoot a lot of threes, transition well, and allow multiple guys to handle the ball and make plays.”

While he previously took an unofficial visit to Southern Indiana, he will be taking his official visit this weekend to the Evansville campus.
