On Thursday, Lincoln Lockhart announced his college commitment. The 6’1” senior guard of Traverse City West High School and the West Michigan Lakers selected Trine University, the defending division three national champions.
“Apart from their top tier facilities, the coaching staff and their winning culture really attracted me to ultimately commit there,” Lockhart said about selecting Trine. The way they treat their program is elite and their attention to detail really sets up their players for success on and off the court.
The commitment comes after Lockhart just took a visit to their Indiana campus earlier this week. “My visit to campus was nothing short of great! Coach Miller and Coach Anderson treated me and my mom first class and by the end of the visit, it felt like home,” Lockhart said. On his visit, Trine offered him.
Before selecting Trine, Lockhart was being recruited by both division two and three programs. Amongst these school were Albion, Alma, Bluffton, Central State, Grace Christian, Lake Superior State, St. Leo, and others.
“I can see my game translating on both sides of the ball,” Lockhart said about his future at Trine. “On the defensive end, they emphasize aggressive on ball defense and cutting off the middle, which is are two keys I take pride in when guarding other guards. On the offensive end, their free-flowing offensive gives a lot of freedom to penetrate into a drive and kick, get to a pull up, or getting to the rim. All of which shows in my game.”
