The recruitment of Leshawn Stowers has continued to greatly grow over the past several months. This continued Tuesday evening when the junior 6’5” guard of Peoria High School (IL) and MidPro Academy added a couple of new scholarship offers for himself.
Following a breakout grassroots season, Stowers was able to receive his first division one offer from University of the Incarnate Word last July. In the following months he then added ones from Eastern Illinois, SIU, and Wisconsin-Green Bay. Then following a game in which he scored 22 points in a big win against Peoria Manual, he was able to grow his offer list up to six. The two new offers came from in-state schools in Bradley and UIC.
Currently in his junior season, Stowers is averaging 19 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal per game helping lead Peoria High School to a 16-10 record. Stowers and Peoria will get started in the Illinois 3A state tournament next week as the fourth seed in the Pontiac sub-sectional.
Last year with MidPro Academy, Stowers was named first team on the 16U level of the NY2LA Association where he helped them to the association championship title. In addition to his six offers, some of the other schools showing the most interest in him include Miami (OH) and Northern Iowa.
