KJ WINDHAM TALKS NORTHWESTERN PLEDGE

After being one of the region’s most sought-after prospects for the 2024 class over the past several months, KJ Windham has ended his recruitment. On Thursday, the 6’2” guard announced his commitment to Northwestern.

Over the past couple of years, Windham pulled in an incredibly long list of offers that was well into double digits. It continued to greatly grow after he won an Indiana state championship this past season at Ben Davis High School and then followed it up with a very strong season playing with Meanstreets on the EYBL. Amongst the schools to offer him included Bucknell, FIU, IUPUI, Kent State, Murray State, Rice, Richmond, St. Louis, Tulsa, UIC, Western Michigan, among others.

The recruitment of Windham to Northwestern quickly came along as he was just offered by Chris Collins and staff less than a month ago. The commitment comes after he just took his official visit to the Evanston, Illinois campus earlier this week on Monday and Tuesday. “It was great,” Windham first said about his visit. “The facilities, I got to hang with the players and build with some of the younger guys and coaches and it really felt like I had been there already. I also got to understand why the school is so successful academically, with the high-level basketball and school system, all athletes are set to be successful one way or another.”

His recent visit played a crucial role in winning offer Windham. “The main things I enjoyed there were the people. I took an official visit there and everyone from the players to the coaches and even advisors and the athletic director, everyone wants to be better. Just being around the bunch of people who are just like me, not heavily recruited out of high school but and really play and are willing to do the extra things to progress. That’s when I was like, this is my environment.”

With Northwestern’s style of play, Windham sees his game fitting in. “The way they use their guards and fast place of basketball and a lot of shooters. I and Coach Collins see myself doing well there. On top of that, everyone is so unselfish and are willing to make the right plays and that is a key part of my game I believe.”
