Jordan Williams, a 6’5” senior wing of Fremd High School (IL) and Elevate Basketball, has announced his commitment to Illinois State. Williams picked them over his other offers from Miami (OH), Toledo, Iona, and Cal State Northridge, but ultimately, the Redbirds won out.
Williams said he had the chance to visit Illinois State twice — first in mid-June and again this past weekend. Both trips left a strong impression. “It was really fun both times,” he said. “During the second visit, they were able to go into more detail about the campus overall and I was intrigued.”
What truly separated Illinois State from the rest was the staff’s dedication. “I picked Illinois State because they showed me real love,” Williams explained. “They came to every game with a bunch of staff and didn’t miss a single game. That showed me how committed they were and how much they believed in me. It was just good energy being around and talking with them.”
On the court, Williams sees himself thriving in the Redbirds’ system. “I feel like with Illinois State my game will fit right in,” he said. “They play to their players’ strengths and I feel I can get a lot of opportunity to develop my game and produce.”
Williams marks the first commitment from the 2026 recruiting class for Illinois State.
