John Simpson Picks Northwood University

It has been a busy couple of months in the recruitment of John Simpson following his breakout summer with the Michigan Playmakers. This ended on Tuesday with the senior’s commitment.

The 6’6” wing forward of Groves High School (MI) committed to Northwood University, an in-state division two program. Northwood has just offered him a scholarship earlier this month. He has also been previously offered by Central State and Oakland Community College.

The commitment comes after Simpson had visited Northwood earlier this month on the 5th-6th. “It was a cool visit we went to the football game tailgated a little bit, saw some people I knew,” Simpson said about the visit.

“One thing I like about Northwood is the facilities,” Simpson said about in his decision choosing Northwood. “They had some things redone in the gym and weight room. I like that they are big on business and that’s what mainly what I want to major in. The guys on the team and Coach Church and Coach Bullinger, they are pretty cool guys.”

On his future of suiting up for Northwood, Simpson said “I feel I can fit well. I’m familiar with the offense they run. And they got some size so I would be playing more outside on the wings where I would like to be.”
