Ja’kobe Louris Talks First Division Two Offer

After being one of the top players recently at the NY2LA Summer Jam tournament, Ja’kobe Louris has picked up his first division two offer. The 6’4” senior guard of Avondale High School and the Michigan Playmakers was offered by Ferris State.

The offer from Ferris State comes after they started recruiting him back in June. When asked what he likes about the in-state division two program, he mentioned their coaching staff and their recent success on the court. Ferris State is coming off a 25-9 season in which they went to the NCAA division two tournament. They also went to the elite eight the year prior in the tournament.

At the NY2LA Summer Jam during the final summer live period, Louris was sensational getting the Michigan Playmakers to the semifinals of the platinum elite bracket. This included scoring 20 points in a round of sixteen game victory and followed that up with 14 points, both team highs, to get them to the tournament final four. He also scored 16 points in another game earlier in the tournament. While he consistently scored it at a high rate throughout the tournament, the lengthy 6’4” guard was also a highly impactful and versatile player contributing in numerous ways.

“The summer went really well with the Playmakers this summer we won a lot of games and was a good experience with a great program,” Louris said about his summer with the Michigan Playmakers. When asked to describe his own game, he stated “A guard who can get to the rim who can knock down shots and make the right plays.”

As well to the offer from Ferris State, Louris was also recently offered by Oakland Community College. He is also receiving interest from other division two and three programs.
