Jake Champagne Talks Record Breaking Game

Throughout his high school career for both Oxford High School and the North Oakland Wolfpack, Jake Champagne has consistently put-up big numbers. Though in a game this past week, the available 6’2” senior guard took it up to another level setting a couple of career highs as well as a school record.

It was accomplished in a double overtime victory this week in Oxford’s game versus Orion. In the game, Champagne not only set his career high in scoring but also broke the school record with 45 points. It was a record that had stood at Oxford for over fifty years. Not only did he mark his scoring high but also a career high in rebounds with 16 of them. “I’ve been seeing all these players in my class putting up big numbers, so I thought it was my turn to have a big game. I could do that every game if I wanted to but that’s not my game and we play to win so whatever it takes that’s what I’ll do,” Champagne said about his career game.

The uncommitted senior is drawing interest right now from both division two and three level programs. University of Olivet and Albion College are a couple of the colleges who have previously extended an offer to him.

“The right fit,” Champagne first said on what he is looking for in his future college. “So, I can. have the best opportunities.” He said he can bring his three-level scoring and tough rebounding as a guard to the next level as well as “do whatever it takes to win.” He is looking to make his college commitment in the spring.
