It has been a busy several months in the recruitment of Jack Smiley. While the 6’2” junior point guard of Valparaiso High School (IN) and Indy Heat entered last summer without a scholarship offer, he has now a couple for himself with plenty of interest as well. Additionally, it has been a busy time of visits for the junior.
In July, Smiley received his first offer coming from Ohio University. He then picked up his second one a couple months later coming from Valparaiso.
For visits, he took one to Miami University (Ohio) back in July. More recently he went to Valparaiso and then Indiana State earlier this week for their game against Evansville. “Visit to Valpo was awesome,” Smiley said about his visit to his hometown school. “The whole coaching staff is incredible. I love every single one of them and their players are all great guys. They showed a lot of love.”
Regarding his more recent visit, Smiley said “visit to Indiana State was great. I loved the whole coaching staff, the gym, the style of play, and the environment.” In addition to the previously mentioned schools, Indiana State, Purdue Fort Wayne, Southern Indiana, Southern Utah, Toledo, and Western Kentucky are among the schools recruiting him currently.
So far into the season, Smiley has been one of the top scorers amongst Indiana’s 2025 class with 24.8 points per game. He is also averaging 5.6 rebounds along with 5.7 assists per game helping Valparaiso High School out to a 9-3 record.
