At each of the NY2LA Midwest Classic D2 Showcase and Summer Jam tournaments, Isaiah McCree was one of the top 2027 guards playing with the Motor City Grizzlies. The 5’11” point guard was a standout throughout the entire grassroots season while also playing on the 3SGB.
When asked about his season with the Motor City Grizzlies, McCree said “My season with the Grizzlies was great, we really started to pick up tempo towards the end of the year and found our pace which was putting intense pressure on defense and turning that into offense. We finished in fifth place at the NY2LA summer jam and eight at the Adidas 3SGB Finals.”
To start off the summer at the Midwest Classic D2 Showcase, McCree was one of the leading scorers averaging 16.3 points while shooting 57.1% from the field. Much more than just a scorer, the point guard also averaged a well-rounded stat line of 5.3 rebounds 4 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. He had an equally impressive performance at Summer Jam helping the Grizzlies to a 4-1 weekend in which they reached the elite eight before falling to the eventual champions. In the tournament he scored 15 points in the round of 16 victory followed by 21 points versus the eventual 16U champions. McCree has consistently shown high level playmaking ability with the ball in his hands. He excels on the attack with his moves and quickness plus can both create for himself and teammates very effectively. Off the dribble, the point guard is a gifted passer with good vision and quick decision making. While he excels on the attack, McCree is a more than capable outside shooter as well.
Prior to his grassroots season, McCree earned honorable mention all-conference honors as a sophomore. With his consistent high-level play, the point guard has started to get himself on the radar of plenty of college coaches. He has several division two programs showing interest in him currently.
For his junior season, McCree will be making the move to Detroit Catholic Central after previously attending Grand Blanc Community.
