It was a good one Wednesday evening between two of the powerhouse programs in the Chicago area with Homewood-Flossmoor visiting Bolingbrook. The game featured to loaded rosters with each side having multiple division one level players. Homewood-Flossmoor held the lead throughout the game and was able to pull away late for the 80-64 victory.

Gianni Cobb – 2024 – PG – Homewood-Flossmoor

As well to his great point guard skills, the Columbia commit really got it done with his scoring ability. Cobb did knock down a deep three, but the bulk of his scoring was done on the attack. He finished with 26 points and was exceptional in the second half expanding the lead. He has another gear to his game and can explode past defenders all the way to the rim and at times was unstoppable while playing downhill. On the attack he showed his great ability to finish it very effectively in a variety of ways around the basket at his size. Cobb is also so strong with the ball in his hands handling ball pressure and reads the floor so well.

Carson Brownfield – 2024 – SG – Homewood-Flossmoor

While he may not get the attention of some of his teammates, Brownfield has been a big piece of his teams’ great success this season and that continued into this win. He scored 15 points but also contributes in a variety of ways. He is a tough wing guard with a strong build that scored it very effectively on the attack, playing through contact and also using his moves to beat defenders. Though he was just as impactful with his tough defensive play matching up with multiple positions, facilitating the ball, and rebounding very well as a guard.

Bryce Heard – 2025 – SG – Homewood-Flossmoor

The junior has such great prototypical tools for the next level. He has plenty of size in the backcourt at 6’6” and length as well to a great skill set that make him one of the top 2025 recruits in the Midwest. Heard scored 26 points in the win, getting most of it done with his shooting ability while hitting six threes. Whether off the catch or the dribble, Heard showed off his great shot making ability. He hit a couple of early threes in the game and kept on hitting them from there.

JT Pettigrew – 2025 – F – Bolingbrook

Pettigrew is known to be a dominant force around the paint and that greatly showed in this one. The 6’7” forward finished with a 17 point, 11 rebound, double-double. Especially on the offensive glass, Pettigrew was a dominant force grabbing everything anywhere around him. He plays so hard and is incredibly aggressive battling for each missed shot. He was consistently getting to the free throw line and hitting them, getting fouled on several put backs. Pettigrew also played effective in the mid-range hitting shots and attacking the basket from there. He plays incredibly big and is one of the most dominant interior forces in the state.

Davion Thompson – 2027 – G – Bolingbrook

When you watch Thompson play, it can be tough to believe he is just a freshman. He is an incredibly skilled scorer who knows how to play. The guard led the game in scoring with 27 points. Thompson was unstoppable playing on the attack for long stretches but also showed a smooth jumper hitting a couple of threes. He sees the floor so well and has great moves on the attack to get all the way to the basket incredibly often. He is also a gifted finished, getting it done all around the paint in traffic at a high percentage.
