While many of the top seniors available in the state of Wisconsin have made their college commitments, one of the top guards available right now is Aidan Konop. As a junior he scored 10.3 points per game in helping a senior heavy Sussex Hamilton to a 20-6 season and a regional final appearance. The 6’2” point guard followed this up with a breakout grassroots season with 24:Up generating some college interest for himself from both division one and two level programs.
Following his stellar grassroots season, he was able to earn himself an offer from Hillsdale College. “Great team atmosphere, facilities and coaching staff,” Konop said about his visit to the division two school in Michigan. “Keven Bradley recently took over as head coach and after getting to know him, I think the program is in really good hands. Should continue their success from recent years.”
As well to being a standout on the basketball court, Konop more than excels in the classroom having scored a 34 on the ACT. With the combination of both his talents, he has drawn interest from multiple Ivy League programs in addition to other high academic schools. He is also drawing interest from some high major programs as a preferred walk-on.
“I want to play at a high academic college for a coach who knows my capabilities,” Konop said about what he is looking for in his future college. Adding in on his recruitment, “Since I took an eight-month break from basketball following my sophomore season, I feel as though I’ve been hidden from college coaches. I’m hoping to make some noise this upcoming high school season and attract more interest.”
Currently, the senior has no timetable on a commitment for himself. “I’m willing to wait it out until March if that’s what I need to do to find the best fit.”
