Graysen Becker Talks First Offer

Another member of the 2027 Wisconsin Playmakers who recently picked up his first division one offer was Graysen Becker. The 6’2” guard of Altoona High School had Cal State Bakersfield extend an offer to him. In his sophomore season, Becker led Altoona with 18.7 points per game in addition to collecting 3.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.3 steals to earn himself first team all-conference honors in the Middle Border Conference.

“It was honestly surprising,” Becker had to say about receiving the offer from Cal State Bakersfield. “I was hoping to come out of this year with some D1 or D2 interest, offers. Then to actually have someone recognize my hard work and believe in me was something I’ll never forget. I’m big on loyalty and Coach Brandon (Barnes) took a big leap with offering me after only watching a couple of games. I was more than grateful as well as excited.  He continued to watch me all weekend and loved to watch me and my teammate Keaton (Wollan). He especially added that he loved how hard we played and our passion for winning.”

Becker is planning on taking a visit out west to Bakersfield in the fall but there are already some aspects he likes of the Big West school and program. “Love the area, especially in the winter. I’ve done a lot of looking into the school and they have what I’m looking for school wise and I really like the passion and care factor of Coach Barnes and his staff.”

Some of the other programs showing interest in the rising junior currently include Augustana, Concordia St. Paul, and Northern Michigan. This is in addition to some division one programs who should be reaching out to him directly when able to contact the 2027 class in a few days on the 15th.

Not only is he making headlines with his recruitment recently but also his play on the hardwood. Becker was one of the top players at the WBY Tournament while leading his team to a 5-0 record.

When talking about his own game, Becker said “first and foremost my game is based on energy, effort and pace. When I’m playing fast on both ends, I can help my team by being disruptive on defense and aggressive on offense. I am always hunting the front of the rim or the pull up first. The catch and shoot or deep three off the bounce I’ve added to my game. But offensively playing downhill is my strength.”
