Grant Manz Talks College Commitment

It has been a big couple of days for Kiel High School’s Grant Manz. On Friday the 6’6” senior forward announced his college commitment and then on Saturday he helped lead his high school team remain undefeated with a sectional championship and head to the state tournament. He led his team with 17 points as well as 14 rebounds.

Manz will be staying in-state with his commitment to UW-Stevens Point.  There were factors on and off the court that came into play in the forwards decision. “I like their academics; they have what I want to do in college. They have a great relationship all around their program.” Some of the other programs recruiting Manz the most included St. John’s, St. Norbert’s, UW-Platteville, and UW-River Falls.

The commitment comes after Manz took a pair of visits to Stevens Point over the past few months. The visits were a major selling point for him which he called great. “I love the campus and love the coaching staff.”

“I can post up on the inside and finish and I can step out and shoot the three,” Manz said about his game fitting in at Stevens Point. In his senior season, he is averaging 16.9 points and 13 rebounds per game to have Kiel with a perfect 28-0 record.

Over the past twenty seasons, UW-Stevens Point has been one of the most winning division three programs in the entire nation. They won national titles in 2004, 2005, 2010, and 2015. In the Pointers 2024 recruiting class, he will be joining his Wisconsin Swing teammate, Brandon Tilley.
