Throughout the grassroots season on the NY2LA Association, Brogan Sherd became a popular name while playing with Northcoast Premier. The 6’0” junior was one of the top guards on the Association with his play during the spring and summer.
Right from the start of the NY2LA Association season, the abilities of Sherd were clear. It started with his play at the NY2LA Spring Extravaganza back in April helping Northcoast Premier win the 16U platinum championship. During the tournament, he scored 17 points in a single half of play. He was also key in leading a comeback during the championship game. Along with Owen VanderWaal, Seth Aukeman, Kyler Berghuis, he helped Northcoast be one of the top 16U teams on the Association. “The season was really good,” Sherd said. “Really fun, all of us guys bond together on and off the court which made us have a ton of chemistry and trust for each other on the court. We preformed really well and beat some really good teams.”
“Confident,” was the first word Sherd said to describe his own game. “Wanting to have fun during the game. I can shoot the ball pretty well, pass, have fun with my teammates.” Not only can the junior be a knockdown shooter, but also has a good ability to create for himself off the dribble. He is a smart guard who knows how to play and is very effective playing off the ball but can also run the point. One aspect of his game he wants to improve upon is becoming stronger. “That would help my game so much and could help our team.”
In his upcoming junior season at Unity Christian High School (MI), Sherd is looking to “perform better overall during high school season because last year I didn’t play the best.” His ultimate goal for the season is to win a state championship.
