What a game it was between these two powerhouse programs with all the division one talent between Metamora and Bolingbrook. While Metamora was able to take a ten-point lead into the half with a strong second quarter, the second half was all Bolingbrook as they won this semifinals matchup 61-47.
Jonah Funk – 2025 – F/C – Metamora
Funk got off to a quick start in this matchup with 6 points in the first quarter of play. Even with plenty of bodies inside and going up against some size, Funk was still able to score it effectively inside on limited touches. The South Dakota finished it strong on dump offs including a powerful slam for the lengthy 6’10” big man. Most importantly, Funk battled tough inside throughout the game to come away with 8 rebounds as well as play tough interior defense.
Brady Pettigrew – 2028 – G – Bolingbrook
While only a freshman, Pettigrew has a highly advanced game and plays with good feel. He played well off the dribble to finish with 10 points on 5-8 shooting as well to grabbing 6 rebounds. Additionally, the 6’3” guard used his length and athleticism to play tough on ball defense through pressuring the ball. Pettigrew showed his scoring package on the attack finishing on pull up jumpers, runners, and a turnaround jumper. It is easy to see why already early on his high school career, he already has multiple division one offers.
JT Pettigrew – 2025 – F – Bolingbrook
With his strength and energy, Pettigrew was handful around the paint on both ends of the floor making plenty of plays in the win. He was a force inside defensively finishing with a few blocks, contesting everything around the basket, and coming away with 3 steals including diving onto the floor for a loose ball. Even while giving up a few inches, Pettigrew used his strength to score through defenders as well as finish with double digit rebounds.
Davion Thompson – 2027 – PG – Bolingbrook
It was another star performance by the sophomore as he scored a team high 18 points along with 6 assists plus 3 steals and 3 rebounds. For just a sophomore he is incredibly poised with the ball in his hands with such a good skill set. He excels playing on the attack with his elite moves and handle but also hit a couple of key threes charging Bolingbrook’s second half run. This included a step back three and a very deep off the dribble three. Along with his moves on the attack, he does a very good job changing speeds and playing at his own pace to consistently get into the paint and create. A good finished all around the paint and mid-range, Thompson also showcased his great passing ability on the move. Thompson continues to prove he is one of the top point guards nationally in the 2027 class.
Matthew Zobrist – 2025 – SG – Metamora
It was another stellar game from the Bradley commit who just continues to build his game. A knockdown outside shooter, Zobrist has built his scoring package playing very off the dribble getting into the paint as well to utilizing his positional size to finish around the paint and create out of the mid-post. Even with tons of defensive attention on him with quality defenders, he was still able to finish with a game high 25 points. Even while being pushed off the three-point line, he was still able to hit four threes a few deep threes off the dribble.
