Following a grassroots season where he continued to grow with the Wisconsin Swing showing a lot of his abilities, Luke Paddock is having a breakout junior season for Elkhorn High School.
Last season as a sophomore, the 6’4” guard did make a significant impact at the varsity level for Elkhorn but this season he is now averaging in the double figures as a junior. Currently he is averaging 13.1 points in addition to 4.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.5 steals per game helping his team to an 8-4 record. As he gets deeper into the season, his scoring only continues to grow as he recently scored 30 points in a single game.
Even while seeing plenty of team and personal success on the court already this season, Paddock is looking for more. “No one is satisfied,” he said about the current state of the season. “We’ve lost multiple games down the stretch to solid teams, but I am still very confident in my teams’ abilities, as our best basketball is still yet to be played. No team should overlook us either as we are getting better every day.”
“Complete winner,” first said when describing his own game. “Because I will do whatever needs to be done to find ways to win with a high plus minus. I believe I’m already a college level defender, who can do all the little things that matter with my length, athleticism, and IQ. I can give guys a really tough time around the perimeter.
For the rest of the season, Paddock is looking to help his team win a conference championship, reach the sectional finals, and earn first team all-conference honors. With the growth in his game, Paddock is starting to appear on the radar of some college programs. Among the schools who he has heard from are Emory-Riddle, UW-Platteville, and UW-Stout for the fast-rising junior.
