Following their elite camp, Charles Kage of Gabriel Richard High School (MI) picked up an offer from Ferris State, an in-state division two program. Over the past year, the 6’8” senior power forward has been one of the fastest rising prospects on the NY2LA Association while playing with The Academy developing into a scholarship level player.
“Ferris State camp was great, I really showcased my skills,” Kage said about his experience at the camp. When asked if there was anything he like about Ferris State, he responded “I really like the coaching staff, great coaches and the overall feel for the campus.”
As well to the new offer from Ferris State, Kage is also being recruited by a number of other division two programs in the region. Last summer he was offered by the previous coaching staff at Northwood University. Some of the other programs showing the most interest include Northern Michigan, Saginaw Valley State, and University of Jamestown.
“My season with The Academy went very well, winning most of our games by double digits,” Kage said about his grassroots season. Kage played well throughout the entire grassroots season ending with his best basketball helping The Academy go 3-1 during The Final Chapter tournament finishing off the July live periods. Even with limited shots, Kage scored in double figures in multiple games in the tournament but also impacted play in a variety of ways with his blend of size, great length, and mobility.
With his senior year about to start, Kage has no set timeline on when he wants to commit. Though he would like to make his college commitment by the middle of his senior season.
