Donovan Davis Emerging In 2027 Class

Amongst a deep and highly talented 2027 field in Wisconsin, one of the top ones standing out this high school season is Donovan Davis. The 6’7” forward is in the middle of a tremendous freshman season at Freedom High School.

While the great majority of players take some time to transition to the varsity level, that is not the case at all for Davis. For a 14-3 team, the freshman is leading the team in all five major stat categories: points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks on his way to a double-double stat line. He is currently averaging 17.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 2.4 steals, and 1 block per game. All while shooting 64.1% from the field and 41.2% from three.

“The transition has been good,” Davis said about making the move to high school. “I’m fortunate that I have upperclassmen that can support me and push me to my best.” Davis mentioned that he got off to a slow start in the season as it took him some time to know his role. “But as the season kept going, I got more comfortable, and we came together more as a team.” He has only continued to get better throughout the season as he has scored 20 points or more in each of his last three games and has helped Freedom to a seven-game winning streak.

For the remainder of the season, the main goal for Davis is to continue to win games in addition to continuing to improve his game. “For our team, I hope we can still win conference and make it far in the playoffs.” As well, he would like to maintain a double-double for the rest of the season.

Following his high school season, Davis will be playing for Team Herro. Don’t be surprised to see Davis getting on the radar of college coaches in the near future with his blend of size, skill set, and versatile game.
