While he’s still very early in his development and quite raw, Donovan Davis has a chance to be the top ranked player in Wisconsin’s 2027 class when all is said and done. A high-upside, versatile, 6-foot-7 combo forward with a budding versatile skillset, Davis landed his first scholarship offer from Wisconsin while attending their advanced camp in June.
“It felt really good,” Davis told NY2LA Sports “I can now see that schools are starting to look at me. Especially since it’s the hometown school, people in the state are looking at me.”
Davis also visited the Badgers for the first time on Saturday.
“It was really cool,” Davis said. “It was a big game, so it was packed. Everybody that was there, all the coaches, the other recruits, they were pretty good people. They treated me and my family right. I appreciated everything they did with me while I was there.”
Two other high major programs have started to take notice of the Freedom star.
“Purdue reached back out and wanted to set up a call with my coach,” Davis explained. “I talked to the Iowa State coach and he’s coming to one of our open gyms soon.”
As a freshman, Davis averaged 18 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists per game, leading the Irish to a 23-5 overall record and an appearance in the sectional finals.
“I think just a really great family,” Davis said when asked what he’s looking for a school and a basketball program. “Everyone is together, they play well together. I’d like to play for a family that can pick me up if anything bad happens.”
Davis plays for Team Herro during the travel season.
