After seeing his recruitment grow over the past several months, 6’8” forward Dane Caldwell has now picked up his first division one offer. The offer for the junior of Silver Creek High School (IN) came from Eastern Illinois University.
“It feels amazing to receive my first offer,” Caldwell said about picking up the Eastern Illinois offer. “Especially since Kooper Jacobi goes there and that’s a player I watched growing up.”
The offer comes after Caldwell took a visit to Eastern Illinois back in October. “It went great and I really like their facilities and staff,” he said about the visit. “I really like their coaches, every conversation I’ve had has been great. And when I watched their practice, it was very intense and that’s what I like, when people on my team will push me to be better.”
While Eastern Illinois is currently his only offer, Caldwell has attracted more interest from division one programs. Some of the others that are showing the most interest in him include Ball State and Miami (OH).
In his junior season, Caldwell has been key to the success for 14-2 Silver Creek. He is averaging 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists per game currently.
