Dalton Scantlebury Discusses Penn Commitment

On Tuesday, one of the top big men in Illinois’ 2025 class announced his college commitment. Dalton Scantlebury, a 6’9” post of Lane Tech High School and Team Rose committed to Penn.

Factors off the court played a big role in the senior choosing the Ivy League school. “For me, the elite business school really set it apart. I fell in love with the campus and really loved all the players and staff. When I visited it just felt like home,” Scantlebury said about choosing Penn.

Scantlebury visited Penn back in June as well as this past weekend. “In June I got to meet a lot of teachers and see the beautiful campus in facilities. I visited there this past weekend and just had a blast. My future teammates were super welcoming, and I really enjoyed spending time with them.”

The commitment comes after Scantlebury was offered by Penn back in May. He chose them over his other offers coming from Columbia, Denver, Miami (OH), Northern Illinois, Ohio, Toledo, and Western Illinois. While he entered the spring without a single division one offer, he had a breakout spring with Team Rose picking up all his offers in April and May.

“I really felt like my game would fit well because they’ve had other big men with similar skill sets really succeed,” Scantlebury said about his future playing for Penn in the Ivy League. “They definitely encourage bigs making decisions and that was very good to hear as a prospect.”
