College of Charleston Lands Chris Davis Jr.

One of the top scorers in the entire nation has announced his college commitment. Chris Davis Jr., a 6’4” senior guard, of Sun Prairie East High School (WI) and Team Herro announced his commitment tonight to College of Charleston.

It has been an interesting several months in the recruitment of Davis. He originally committed to Arkansas State back in November. With the change in coaching staffs this spring, he opened up his commitment from them. He became a very popular target following session one of the EYBL from his breakout tournament performance with Team Herro. The Charleston coaching staff starting recruited Davis following that tournament and were very aggressive right from the start.

“The culture and the coaching staff,” Davis first said about choosing Charleston. “They’ve been real with me from the start and made me feel like a priority. I also love the way they play fast-paced, unselfish basketball and the campus is beautiful, right by the water.”

The commitment comes after Davis recently took his official visit down to the South Carolina school. “The official visit was great. The coaches showed a lot of love, and I felt like I was already part of the family. It just felt right being there, and I could really see myself growing on and off the court in that environment.”

For his future playing for the CAA school, Davis said he sees his game fitting in well with their system. “I’m a versatile player who can guard multiple positions and push the pace, and I think that matches up with how they want to play. They value toughness and high IQ guys, and that’s how I try to play every time I step on the floor.

Charleston is landing a guard that is coming off back-to-back staggering high school seasons. In his junior season, he averaged 40.8 points per game. Then in his senior season, he followed that up by averaging 35.2 points.
