Cael LaFrentz Poised For Breakout Spring

As high school seasons are ending and the spring grassroots seasons are upon us, we will continue to highlight some must see players in the coming months. One of the these being Cael LaFrentz, a 6’10” 2026 post of Decorah High School in Iowa.

Back in his high school season, LaFrentz was one of the top players in all of Iowa. He averaged a staggering stat line of 29.2 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks per game while shooting 65.4% from the field. He was a major reason why Decorah was able to go 22-2 on the season. The post received a lengthy list of honors from his standout season including first team all-state by the IPSWA in addition to being the only non-senior make the Des Moines Register All-Iowa Elite Team.

For the upcoming grassroots season, the junior will be joining Team Herro to play on the EYBL. “I’d like to show college coaches my ability to play with the best for my age group in the United States,” he said about the upcoming season. “I work hard, and I’m going to continue to get better,” he added in

When asked to describe his own game, LaFrentz stated “a five man who runs the floor, protects the paint, and has great touch.” With all these tools and physical attributes including 6’10” height, he has a lot to offer programs at the college level. Back in October he took an unofficial visit to Nebraska. He said that he had a lot of contact with various programs and is looking for it to continue to pick up in the coming months. The junior has plenty of tools for the next level and should be a popular name.
