Brock Massey Picks UW-Eau Claire

One of the top scorers in Wisconsin’s 2024 class made his college commitment this week. It came from Brock Massey who be staying in-state by picking Wisconsin-Eau Claire. For grassroots, he played with the Wisconsin Swing program.

In his senior season at Mauston High school, the 6’3” guard averaged 24.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 2.2 steals per game, leading his team in all four categories. He was named honorable mention all-state by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association. In his high school career, he was able to amass 2,153 points.

“The main things I like about Eau Claire are the facilities, location, and being with my family,” said about his decision. They just built the new Sonnentag Center, so I am super pumped to be able to practice and play in that. Eau Claire is a really nice city with plenty to do in it and supporting fans. My brother still goes to school there so being with him and staying close to my friends and family so I can watch them, and they can watch me is also very important to me.”

During his recruitment, Massey took multiple visits to Eau Claire. “I really enjoyed every visit I took, with the coaches making me feel important and exploring around the entire campus.”

Colorado School of Mines, Florida Tech, Rollins College, South Dakota School of Mines, and UW-Stevens Points are some of the schools that recruited him the most for basketball. He also was being recruited by schools for baseball and football. “I chose Eau Claire because it is home to me and I felt like I belonged there,” he said about choosing Eau Claire over all these other programs.

When talking about his future playing there, Massey talked about his versatility. “I can pass to prolific scorers we have as well as play great defense and get rebounds from the guard position. If the team needs some scoring, I can bring that to the table as well. I’m ready to get this thing rolling with my guys.”
