One of the biggest breakout stars this summer on the NY2LA Platinum Elite this summer was Curtis Britton IV of D Rice Elite. Between the NY2LA Final Chapter and Summer Jam tournaments this July, he was one of the top guards on the association.
The 6’2” guard started off these pair of tournaments in a big way. In the opening game of the Final Chapter tournament, Britton scored 29 points in a win which included hitting four threes. He continued this high level of scoring throughout the tournament to average 19 points. This was along with 6.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists to help D Rice Elite go 4-0. Then at Summer Jam, Britton showed more of his all-around game with the stat line of 11.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 3 steals per game to get D Rice Elite to the platinum semifinals.
“My season with D Rice was great,” Britton stated. “We had a great group of players like Greg Grays Jr, Sebastian Thrower and Micah Powell. Didn’t end the way we wanted it to but still a great summer for all of us.” When speaking more about his own play and the growth of his game, he said “This summer was great for me, playing in front of coaches, I was really just being me, doing what I work on in the gym and in practice. And just learning game by game.” A good outside shooter, he has also shown great growth with his athleticism, on ball defensive play, and ability to create off the dribble.
With this growth in his play, Britton has started to see his recruitment grow with some new programs recruiting him. Amongst these new schools are Carthage, Oakland Community, and Trine. He is visiting Oakland Community today and will be visiting Carthage on August 11th. He has also previously visited Wayne State.
