The top player and recruit on the NY2LA Association this past season has made his college commitment this weekend. This came from Dietrich Richardson of MidPro Academy and Peoria Manual High School (IL).
While the 6’7” senior point guard received several high major offers, Richardson decided instead to stay in Peoria by choosing Bradley University and head coach Brian Wardle. “Staying home was a big part of it,” Richardson said about his collegiate decision in selecting Bradley.
In addition to staying close to home, there were a few other aspects that had Richardson picking Bradley. “Main things are the coaching staff, play style, and environment.” On his future suiting up for the Braves, he said “I see myself fitting in perfect with coach Wardle’s scheme.”
Among the other schools to have offered Richardson were Arizona State, DePaul, Illinois, St. Louis, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Wyoming, Xavier, and others. The commitment comes after Richardson had just taken his official visit to Bradley during the past week. He had also recently taken his official visits to Vanderbilt and Wyoming over the past few weeks.
Richardson is joining a familiar face in Bradley’s 2025 recruiting class, Matthew Zobrist, a MidPro Academy teammate of his. Bradley also has a commitment from Montana Wheeler. Bradley is coming off a 23-win season in which they made it to the second round of the NIT.
